The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organized an event named ‘A Picnic Celebration at the Museum’ as a warm welcome for prominent Chinese influencers who are part of the ‘Amazing Festive & Exclusive Trip in Thailand.’ This carefully curated eight-day journey showcases tailored itineraries emphasizing Thai cultural values while emphasizing the safety measures in place, solidifying Thailand’s reputation as a secure destination.

Presiding over the welcome reception, Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said “China has been a key source market for Thailand and has had a significant impact on the Thai economy. Therefore, the Thai government is committed to providing high-quality tourism experiences for Chinese tourists. Our strategies include the development of new attractions in tandem with the promotion of Thai soft powers and meaningful travel experiences. Equally important is the safety measures to ensure that Chinese tourists can enjoy peace of mind throughout their travels in Thailand.”

The ‘Amazing Festive & Exclusive Trip in Thailand’ has invited 93 top influencers from China to delve into immersive travel experiences across Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Chanthaburi, Phang-nga, and Ko Mak from December 21st to 28th, 2023.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The ‘Amazing Festive and Exclusive Trip in Thailand’ initiative was conceptualised to inspire Chinese travellers to visit Thailand through a showcase of meaningful, one-of-a-kind travel experiences exclusive to each of the seven featured destinations. With emphasis on tourist safety, the eight-day itinerary features a variety of Thai tourism products and services that offer experience-based tourism and leverage the 5F Thai soft powers of Food, Film, Festival, Fight, and Fashion.”

The reception, held on December 26th at Museum Siam in Bangkok, followed the theme of ‘A Picnic Celebration at the Museum.’ The agenda encompassed visits to the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and a thrilling tuk-tuk ride around Rattanakosin Island.

This picnic-style gathering featured cuisine from Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants, quintessential Thai street food, and desserts, complemented by contemporary Thai performances, live music, and various engaging activities. Attendees enjoyed a test-ride on the Thai Tourist Police’s Segway, Thai massages, fortune telling, and a lucky draw.

Additionally, the trip showcased TAT’s latest ‘Thais Always Care’ online campaign under the ‘Land of Care’ concept, aimed at bolstering confidence among tourists by highlighting Thailand’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety standards in the travel industry. This initiative collaborates with international influencers and major online platforms to showcase diverse and meaningful travel experiences available in Thailand.

For the period spanning January 1st to December 20th, 2023, Thailand welcomed 3,352,812 Chinese visitors. TAT anticipates a figure of 3.5 million visitors from China for the current year.
