Textron Aviation Receives Prestigious Industry Partner of the Year Award from Goodwill Kansas, Celebrating Commitment to Career Opportunities and Economic Strength

Textron Aviation has been awarded the prestigious title of Industry Partner of the Year by Goodwill Industries of Kansas. The recognition highlights the company’s steadfast dedication to fostering workforce development and strengthening community ties. The award underscores Textron Aviation’s impactful collaboration with Goodwill in enhancing career opportunities and contributing to the local economy.

In addition to this honour, Textron Aviation employee Briana Vanegmond received the Scholar of the Year award. This accolade celebrates her remarkable journey through Goodwill’s Re-Entry Services program, which supported her transition back into the workforce. Vanegmond’s inspiring story of perseverance and growth led her to a role as a sheet metal assembler at Textron Aviation, marking a significant milestone in her career.

These recognitions serve as a testament to Textron Aviation’s ongoing commitment to strategic partnerships and its role in developing a skilled workforce. By investing in workforce initiatives like Goodwill’s Re-Entry Services, Textron continues to help build stronger, more resilient communities. Briana Vanegmond’s remarkable story began during a challenging chapter in her life. Incarcerated and under Drug Court supervision, she faced the daunting task of raising her young son while pregnant with her daughter. Despite the hardships, Briana was determined to rebuild her life. Through her probation officer, she found a lifeline in Goodwill’s Re-Entry Services program, a turning point that set her on a path of transformation.

As she worked tirelessly to create a better future for her family, Briana balanced the responsibilities of motherhood, fulfilling probation requirements, and attending life skills courses. She also enrolled in classes at WSU Tech while working multiple jobs. In addition to her own journey of recovery, Briana dedicated time to supporting others in the Narcotics Anonymous community, leading meetings and offering encouragement to those walking a similar path.

Briana’s connection with Textron Aviation began when she attended a presentation led by Izarahy Montes, Talent Management Representative for Workforce Programs. Each month, Izarahy offers presentations to Re-Entry Services cohorts, sharing valuable insights into Textron Aviation, answering questions, and highlighting the company’s commitment to second-chance employment opportunities. Inspired by Izarahy’s message, Briana participated in a company tour and job-shadowing experience, where she gained firsthand knowledge of the aviation manufacturing industry. It was here that she discovered the potential for a future at Textron Aviation.

After completing her program, Briana interviewed for a position with the company and was offered a role as a sheet metal assembler. Today, Briana stands as a proud example of resilience, creating a stable future for her family and becoming a role model for others in recovery.

Her journey is a testament to the power of second chances and the unwavering support of organizations like Goodwill and Textron Aviation. The recognition of her achievements underscores the pride both organizations take in their people and the communities they help build. Briana’s success not only reflects the craftsmanship she brings to every aircraft but also the strength of character that shapes the future for herself and others around her.
