In a dazzling showcase of sustainable tourism, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) captivated attendees at ITB Asia 2023, Asia’s premier travel trade show. Marking its 15th consecutive participation, the Thailand Stand, featuring 19 exhibitors, unfolded an array of meaningful travel experiences from October 25 to 27 in Singapore.

The official inauguration, led by Mr. Kitti Chaodi, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires at the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, spotlighted Thailand’s unwavering commitment to advancing responsible tourism practices.

In keeping with Thailand’s aim to promote sustainable tourism, the booth used reused decorations from past events to highlight eco-friendly values. The TAT Information Counter, which highlighted meaningful travel and sustainable tourism experiences, was the exhibit’s focal point. Traditional Thai flags and intricate batik clothing designs were showcased in creative workshops and hands-on demonstrations.

Mrs. Ruedee Cheawsamoot, Director of TAT ASEAN, South Asia, and South Pacific Market Division, lauded the event’s success. According to a study of sellers at the Thailand Stand, there were 721 business appointments, with an impressive 40% projected to turn into contracts. At similar B2B tradeshows, sellers reported a commendable 82% satisfaction percentage with marketing activities.

This strategic involvement in ITB Asia complements TAT’s broad marketing activities in the Singapore market, a top-ten source market for Thailand. From January to October 2023, Thailand received 738,761 visitors from Singapore, with forecasts showing 800,000 visitors by year’s end.

Singaporeans’ favorite Thai places, such as Bangkok, Phuket, Chon Buri, Krabi, Songkhla, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Chiang Mai, were emphasized. The allure comes in different activities such as relishing Thai food, indulging in massages and spas, discovering historical places, experiencing bustling nightlife, and immersing in local community encounters.

The victory at ITB Asia 2023 solidifies Thailand’s position as a favored destination for sustainable and enjoyable travel experiences.
