Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, Thailand, is set to become a beacon of horticultural innovation and sustainability as it gears up to host the International Horticultural Expo 2029, commonly referred to as the Korat Expo 2029. This prestigious event, sanctioned by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), marks a significant achievement for Thailand, having been chosen as the venue for this A1-level expo, which is anticipated to draw between 2.6 to 4 million visitors from around the globe.

Scheduled to run from November 10, 2029, to February 28, 2030, the Korat Expo 2029 is themed “Nature and Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future.” It aims to showcase the latest advancements in horticulture, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and the vital role of greenery in enhancing urban environments and the quality of life. The expo is expected to serve as a platform for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the showcasing of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in the horticultural industry.

The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), a key organization supporting the bid, has played a crucial role in bringing this event to fruition. Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of TCEB, expressed his enthusiasm for the Korat Expo 2029, highlighting the numerous benefits it is poised to bring to Thailand and beyond. “Korat Expo 2029 is primed to be a milestone event, driving substantial economic, social, and natural gains,” he stated. Mr. Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya emphasized that the expo aligns with AIPH’s mission to foster a thriving horticultural industry that not only enhances lives but also advances societies and sustains the planet for future generations.

The expo’s impact is expected to extend far beyond its duration, leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit the local community, the horticultural industry, and environmental conservation efforts. It aims to promote Nakhon Ratchasima as a center for horticultural excellence and environmental stewardship, encouraging sustainable development and green innovation in the region.

The success of this bid is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various organizations and stakeholders in Thailand, including the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand, Nakhonratchasima Chamber of Commerce, The Federation of Thai Industries – Nakhon Ratchasima Chapter, Tourism Council of Nakhon Ratchasima, Khao Yai Tourism Association, Nakhonratchasima Rajabhat University, and the private sector within the province. Their collective support underscores the national commitment to promoting green practices and environmental sustainability.

As the world looks forward to the Korat Expo 2029, Thailand is poised to showcase its capabilities in hosting international events of such scale and significance. The expo not only offers an opportunity to highlight the country’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality but also its dedication to fostering a green and sustainable future. Through this event, Thailand aims to inspire global action towards environmental conservation and the sustainable development of urban and rural landscapes, reinforcing its position as a leader in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travel sector and a champion of ecological stewardship.
