Thailand tourism welcomes IFEA ASIA delegates with spectacular reception

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organized a welcoming reception for esteemed delegates from the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) ASIA, who have gathered for the “2024 Pinnacle Awards and Asia Festival City Conference” in Pattaya, Chon Buri, from today until Thursday, 29 February.

Present at the event were distinguished individuals In attendance were Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, the Mayor of Pattaya City; Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, serving as President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB); Mr. Jeong, Gang-Hoan, assuming the role of President of IFEA ASIA; and Mr. Chuwit Sirivajjakul,TAT Executive Director for East Asia Region. Collectively, they extended a warm welcome to around 150 delegates from IFEA ASIA, a substantial portion of whom originated from South Korea.

Thailand’s selection as the host country for the 2024 Pinnacle Awards and Asia Festival City Conference marks a historic occasion as the event takes place in an Asian country other than South Korea for the first time. This decision also highlights Pattaya’s stature as one of Thailand’s foremost business events cities, particularly in the realm of beach resorts.

The “2024 Pinnacle Awards and Asia Festival City Conference” has been meticulously organized with robust support and collaboration from various sectors of the Thai public and private domains, including TCEB, Pattaya City, TAT, the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration, the Chon Buri Provincial Administrative Organisation, and the Thai Hotels Association – Eastern Chapter.

The comprehensive three-day itinerary comprises the welcome reception on Tuesday, 27 February, followed by the Pinnacle Awards and Asia Festival City Conference scheduled for Wednesday, 28 February, and Thursday, 29 February, culminating with a post-convention tour on Thursday afternoon.

Over the years, Thai cities and festivals have earned numerous accolades and recognitions from IFEA. Notably, Chiang Mai was esteemed as one of five “World Festival and Event Cities” for 2022. Furthermore, the Bangkok Music City 2021 event, the Ubon Ratchathani Lent Candle Procession 2019 event, and the Loei Art Fes 2021 event proudly clinched bronze awards at the 2022 IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards.

IFEASIA designated the ‘Pattaya International Fireworks Festival’ as one of Asia’s top three Ocean Cities’ Festivals for 2022, while the ‘Thai Songkran Festival’ earned recognition as one of Asia’s major festivals in 2021.

In 2023, South Korea emerged as Thailand’s third-largest source of visitors, contributing nearly 1.65 million arrivals and generating 65.64 billion Baht in revenue. On average, South Korean tourists stayed for 6.2 days and spent 39,790 Baht per trip.

The “2023-2024 Korea-Thailand Mutual Visit Years” initiative aims to bolster tourism between the two countries, promoting bilateral travel opportunities.
