France remains one of Thailand’s most resilient tourism sources, with strong repeat visitation and an increasing interest in luxury travel. By connecting Paris directly to Phuket, Thailand is facilitating seamless access to one of its most renowned destinations, encouraging longer stays and visits to multiple regions. This move is expected to stimulate both leisure and premium tourism while supporting sustainable, experience-focused travel initiatives.

Phuket continues to be a leading destination in Southern Thailand, famous for its pristine beaches, luxury resorts, wellness retreats, yachting activities, and natural beauty. The direct Air France connection will enable French visitors to enjoy these offerings more conveniently, enhancing the destination’s attractiveness for high-value tourists seeking cultural, leisure, and adventure experiences. In addition, travelers can explore nearby destinations such as Krabi, Surat Thani, and Bangkok, creating opportunities for diverse itineraries.

The route will operate three times weekly using Boeing 777-200 aircraft, each accommodating 328 passengers, and is scheduled to run through late March 2026. Alongside this new service, Air France continues its daily flights to Bangkok, providing flexibility and multiple options for travelers to experience Thailand’s rich tourism offerings. This connectivity supports longer stays, customized travel experiences, and access to premium accommodations and attractions.

To promote the new route, Thailand’s tourism authorities are partnering with Air France on a digital marketing initiative designed to boost awareness of Thailand among French travelers. The campaign leverages online platforms to highlight the country’s unique offerings, from wellness and eco-friendly experiences to cultural and luxury travel options. This initiative aims to inspire French tourists to explore Thailand’s diverse destinations and immerse themselves in its rich culture and natural beauty.

Tourism data highlights the market’s potential. From January to November 2025, Thailand welcomed over 727,000 French visitors, an increase of more than 13% from the previous year. A large share of these travelers were first-time visitors, and many preferred independent travel arrangements. The average expenditure per French visitor was approximately 58,611 Baht, with extended stays averaging 17 days. By the end of 2025, Thailand expects to welcome around 846,000 French travelers.

Thailand’s strategy emphasizes sustainable tourism growth that benefits local communities while preserving the environment. By attracting high-value travelers, the country can promote niche tourism segments such as wellness, cultural immersion, and marine adventures. These offerings provide meaningful experiences for visitors while supporting responsible tourism practices that maintain Thailand’s appeal for years to come.

The direct Paris–Phuket flight reflects the growing collaboration between airlines and destination marketing organizations to drive international tourism growth. For French travelers, the new route offers convenience, flexibility, and direct access to Thailand’s southern gateway, enabling extended stays and immersive travel experiences.

With this development, Thailand strengthens its reputation as a leading long-haul destination for high-end European travelers. Enhanced connectivity, targeted marketing campaigns, and a range of premium offerings position Thailand as a destination that combines luxury, culture, and adventure. The Air France Paris–Phuket route exemplifies Thailand’s commitment to sustainable tourism, market diversification, and delivering unforgettable experiences for discerning travelers.
