The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) introduces its new ‘Meaningful Relationship’ communication concept at the 42nd World Travel Market (WTM), emphasizing their dedication to sustainable tourism goals through inspiring initiatives.

On November 6, Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the Governor of TAT, and TAT executives formally opened the Thailand Stand.

Princess Ubolratana paid a special visit to the Thailand Stand at the WTM 2023, which was held from November 6–8, 2023, at ExCel London. Princess Ubolratana also attended a workshop called “Souvenir by the Sea” that taught participants how to make bags out of abandoned fishing nets.

Ms. Thapanee said “Thailand’s presence at the WTM 2023 is focused on strengthening a meaningful relationship between Thailand, the Thai people, and tourists from around the world, as well as reiterating the kingdom’s ongoing direction towards more sustainable and responsible tourism.”

The Thailand Stand at WTM showcases the ‘Meaningful Relationship’ and ‘Sustainable Tourism Goals’ concepts, utilizing reused and recyclable materials to create a natural ambiance. The design incorporates wicker products reflecting Thai culture and displays photographs depicting Thailand’s meaningful connection with tourists.

Along with Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways International, Thailand Privilege Card, and the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), the Thai delegation comprises twelve DMCs, twenty-two hotels and resorts, and Thailand. The TAT information counter highlights sustainable tourism projects, such as a do-it-yourself workshop creating a keychain out of used plastic bottle caps, and promotes the idea of “Meaningful Relationships.”

At the Amazing Thailand Press Conference during WTM, the new ‘Meaningful Relationship’ communication concept by TAT was featured, along with the Responsible Tourism Awards 2023 presentation. This concept was highlighted through a London Bus wrapping, positioned prominently in front of the ExCel Hall on 6-7 November. The Amazing Thailand Bus provided free hop-on-hop-off services at key attractions in London from 5 November and will continue to do so until 12 November.

Tourists received 10-15% discount vouchers for Thai Square, Nipa, and Patara restaurants. Sharing pictures of the bus on social media with #AmazingThailand earned visitors free Thai elephant pants.
