The 2023’s initial three months witnessed 16% less tourists in Ireland

The Irish Tourism Industry Confederation has recent disclosed that during 2023’s initial three months, a total of 1.7 million visitors from abroad had come to Ireland. It was a drop of 16 per cent in comparison to the same time in 2019.

The same sources explained that as the requirement from the Europe and North America is at the highest level of the tourism revival rate, as per the SchengenVisaInfo.com reports. On the other hand, the requirement from Britain, as the one of largest volume market, remains small.

Besides, ITIC said that its concerns about the revival of the country, which has been intimidated by the constant inflation of cost and a dearth of supply in terms of accommodation and car rentals of the tourists.

Based on the analysis of ITIC, of all tourism beds in Ireland, over a third is contracted by the government at present to house the refugees from Ukraine and to the international asylum seekers.

The ITIC President, in this regard, gave importance that the number of beds for the tourist is no longer available for the tourist economy, and this is a major apprehension.

Furthermore, Eoghan O’Mara Walsh, the ITIC CEO, disclosed that the support of the government for tourism beds in 2023 will cost the tourism economy €1.1 billion.

Walsh also pointed out that the businesses of downstream tourism like attraction sites, cultural experiences, restaurants, inbound operators, and vintners will be the ones to go through everything.
