On Wednesday, the Havasupai Tribal Council has declared about the news of the suspension of tourism that would be extended until June 1st due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the pandemic started in March 2020, the Havasupai Reservation and Supai Village have been closed for all tourists and will be lockeddown for the foreseeable future, as per an online message.

Campground, lodge and pack mule reservations after May 31 will not be impacted at this time, the tribe said. However, reservations held before that will be rescheduled for the same date in 2023. Until the tourism suspension is lifted, no new reservations will be available.

Also, the National Park Service has urged people on river trips bypass Havasu Canyon on the Colorado River to reduce virus spread and defend the Havasupai people.

An earlier tourism suspension was extended by the tribe in June 2021 until February 2022 due to the pandemic.
In vaccination efforts, the tribe has been actively involved and looks forward to welcoming tourists back when it is safe to do so.
