The P.E.I. government has recently declared new transit routes. This summer, it will serve tourism destinations on the North Shore.

There will be two routes. One route would be from Summerside and the other one from Charlottetown. Daily, each will have four round trips, seven days a week.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister, James Aylward, in a news release, said that as the operators of North Shore tourism gets ready to welcome visitors in the summer of 2022, the cost of travel created major effect on staff availability.

These new routes will help the employees in managing the cost of travel and support a busy season of tourism whereas decreasing transportation emissions at the same time.

To hire, tourism operators in Cavendish have been increasing the wages and keep a hold of staffs as gas prices rise with increased commuting charges.

The mayor of the Cavendish Resort Municipality, Matthew Jelley, expects that tourists will profit from the buses too. Jelly said that the addition of public transit will act as great news for employers as well as the employees within the community.

For the months of July and August, this North Shore transit route will operate and take in stops like Stanley Bridge, Kensington, Cavendish, North Rustico, Oyster Bed and Winsloe.

Still, transit officials are exchanging thoughts to the industry about the best times for the service. Approximately, early morning, mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and early evening will be the timings.
