The International Music Festival To Conclude In Macao, China, Boosting Tourism And Cultural Appeal For Music Lovers

After a three-week period filled with music, the 37th edition of the Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), which was an iconic cultural event, has come to a triumphant close, winning over spectators from near and far. The theme of this year event, Vocal Waves, has not only provided exceptional musical performances but also signaled a strong interest of the world in Macao as a cultural hub through its Festival. In recognition of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the 120th anniversary of Xian Xinghai’s birth, the MIMF hosted two special concerts: River of Legacy, by the Macao Chinese Orchestra and The Yellow River, performed by the Macao Orchestra in collaboration with pianist Cheong Hoi Leong.

Additionally, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Georges Bizet’s passing, the festival co-presented Carmen-Opera in Four Acts, a spectacular opera production. Among other highlights, the Rachmaninoff International Orchestra, conducted by Mikhail Pletnev, performed the complete set of Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos, while renowned violinist Daniel Hope led the Gstaad Festival Orchestra from Switzerland in their interpretation of The Four Seasons. These performances, alongside the participation of Cuca Roseta, Portugal’s famed Fado singer, and the Macao Chinese Orchestra, demonstrated the diversity and innovation that this festival brings to the region.
