Vietnam International Travel MartOn March 29th, the Vietnam International Travel Mart or VITM 2018 was opened and will continue till April 1st at the Friendship Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao Street in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district.

The theme of the travel mart is “Online Tourism, Vietnam’s Tourism Advances in Industry 4.0”. It focuses to enthuse and support travel enterprises to make the most of the opportunities of the digital era by utilizing modern technology while selling their products and at the same time promoting their brand to attract and serve customers online.

In the development of science and technology, online tourism is the present trend of the tourism sector worldwide and technology must be introduced, offering tourists with better options, Mr. Vu The Binh, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), as informed in the opening ceremony. This year’s VITM side by side, also brings opportunities for technology enterprises to bring in their products for tourism. “The organizers expect to prove that tourism is one of the pioneers in approaching technology,” he said. While addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam explained that tourism serves as a bridge for people in different countries to meet and endorse solidarity. He expects that Vietnamese will join hands together to create a better and sustainable tourism industry.

A KTO representative at the travel mart says that the number of Vietnamese tourists to the RoK increased from 160,000 in 2014 to 320,000 in 2017. On the first day, the VITM draws thousands of visitors, as travel agents launch an imposing range of promotional programs.
A representative of Fiditour mentions that several visitors have expressed their interest in foreign tours to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Cambodia, to North-east Asian countries such as the RoK, Japan, Hong Kong (China), and Taiwan (China), and to European countries including France and Italy.
