For all the water babies out there, there’s a cause to celebrate because in the coming days, Goa, one of our favourite destinations, is all set to revamp its waterfalls and turn them into appropriate tourism hotspots. Goa, as a tourist destination has so much more to offer than just the sea, sun, surf and religious sites. In Goa, parts of Western Ghats are there and because of this reason, Goa gets plenty of seasonal rainfall.

The hinterlands of Goa have numerous waterfalls and majority of them are seasonal. During and post monsoon, their beauty can only be seen when there is plenty of rain water and the rivers get full which actually feed these waterfalls.

The state government of Goa is planning to promote these waterfalls along with the adjoining areas as tourism hotspots. Therefore, these waterfalls will have infrastructure to bear the constantly increasing foot traffic very soon.

Places like these, in the absence of the right kind of facilities, tend to get overcrowded, causing pollution and environmental damage. A revamp campaign will help control this problem easily.

Also, the Goa government explained that to explore these waterfalls, nominal fees will be charged. The revenue that would be generated from these waterfalls will be utilized behind their maintenance.

Vishwajit Rane, Forest Minister, explained that there will be registration counters, guides, bio-toilets, and exciting spots for picnic in areas near these waterfalls.
