The WTTC research states strong revival of travel and tourism

The WTTC’s Economic Impact Research (EIR) for 2023 says that the travel and tourism segment of is
witnessing a strong revival and would attain almost the levels seen before the pandemic this year.


Speaking to ministers at the G20 Summit in India, Julia Simpson, the President & CEO of the WTTC,
emphasized on the flexibility of the tourism segment, increasing at twice the degree of GDP not only in India, but in all G20 countries.


The WTTC study estimates travel and tourism’s contribution as INR 16.5TN to the economy of India
this year, which is only 3.5% under 2019.


This year, the segment is estimated to generate more than 1.6MN more occupations, improving nearly all of the jobs getting vanished because of pandemic to reach virtually 39MN, with approximately one in 13
employees in India involved with the travel and tourism division.


Global visitor expenditure in India is estimated to reach over INR 2TN with local visitor spending expected to touch over INR 12.6TN.
