The Telangana government has recently requested the Centre to help the state in building up the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project as an important tourist attraction. If built, it would be made under the theme ‘Nature Tourism Circuit’ and the Telangana government has requested the center to distribute Rs. 473 crore under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. The state government, as per the officials, is seeking to expand the circuits of eco-tourism at different project sites in Telangana. To note, in the budget, Rs. 750 crore has been allocated.
According to the officials of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation, the corporation is all set to increase tourist infrastructure like good resorts, hotels, boats/cruises, restaurants, eateries, suspension bridges, glow garden, sound and light shows, musical fountains and other development of tourism across the state of Telangana in general. Also, the corporation is taking on the responsibility of boating, package tours, and other adventure activities that would improve visitor experience in many ways, said the officials.
The officials explained that there is an offer to build up “Kaleshwaram Tourism Circuit”, which would connect other project sites, like Kannepally Pump House, Medigadda Barrage, Kaleshwaram Temple, Annaram Water Canal, and Yellampally Reservoir. The official confirmed that currently all of these works are at design stage. The government has requested the Centre for development of tourist spots and asked for financial support under two schemes including Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD.
