Iran, mainly avoided by western tourists, is making a major drive these days to draw visitors from affluent Gulf Arab states and other countries located close by to improve its impacted economy.
Also, the Islamic republic is pulling greater number of visitors from China and Russia to its olden sites that dates back to the Persian rule and the magical Silk Road, as per the industry figures.
The Beijing-brokered political thaw of Iran with Saudi Arabia in 2023 opened the way for nonstop flight services and Tehran is looking for closer ties as well with Egypt and Morocco.
The sluggish yet stable amendment can be seen at important tourist sites where greater number of visitors can be heard speaking Arabic, Chinese and Russian instead of English, French or German.
Hamid Shateri, Tehran travel agency owner said that in the past, they were welcoming numerous European tourists but at present those numbers have dropped sharply. Europeans are now frightened to visit Iran after years of anxieties over the contested nuclear program of the country and after the warnings of the Western government against travelling there.
These days, generally Russian and Chinese visit the historical sites of Iran and its stunning landscape.
