Recently, a former tourism minister suggested by saying that the government and the private sector should work in tandem to resolve problems that are encountered by the tourism sector. At a recent general meeting of the Thai Hotels Association, Senator, Weerasak Kowsurat, who was tourism and sports minister of Thailand from 2017 to 2019, explained that bringing back the personnel is one of the toughest challenges.

To handle this dispute, he said, the government should make use of the fund of the tourism development to re-skill personnel and make them knowledgeable about different tasks.

Also, the former minister suggested government agencies and related private organisations to start reforming the tourism and making the required modifications as tourists have started coming back.

He urged the government to introduce ad hoc laws and regulations like the ones for hotels or cruise ships.

Also, the tourism sector move its focus to creative economy, like providing gastronomy tours keeping in mind that mango sticky rice has been made viral by Thai hip-hop artist Milli, he added.

Weerasak also mentioned that with the right law tourism can offer added value to the travellers. Also, he complained that though tourism operators have impactful strategies, they often get dreary due to communication problems.
