The Sumida Riverwalk, a pedestrian walkway inaugurated in the summer of 2020 along Tobu Railway’s Sumida River railroad bridge, will be adorned with a stunning bamboo light archway from November 9, 2023, to January 31, 2024, extending a warm welcome to visitors. Simultaneously, at Sumida Park’s “Soyokaze Hiroba” or Breeze Plaza on the Sumida ward side of the river, additional bamboo lights inspired by the artistic window designs of Tobu’s new Spacia X train will create another captivating seasonal attraction. The Spacia X train commenced operations in July 2023.
This luminous spectacle is a collaboration with “CHIKAKEN,” an event producer based in Kumamoto, founded by Mr. Kenji Mishiro, an expert in bamboo lighting.

Join the “Let’s Light up Sumida Park with Bamboo Lights Together! Participatory Lighting Event,” an international friendship lighting celebration featuring elementary school students from Sumida City and foreign visitors to Japan.

Lighting Ceremony: 17:30 -17:45.
A third lighting event, “Night Marché,” in collaboration with the Sumida City Tourism Association, will feature local businesses opening stalls and offering free guided tours from the Asakusa area to the Sumida Park neighborhood.
