They evaluated a list of 136 globally renowned cities, determining the top 10 based on Instagram hashtag popularity, as well as levels of light, noise pollution, and nighttime safety.

Dubai emerges as the leader for the most visually appealing long-haul destination after sunset. With more than 27,387 Instagram posts tagged with #dubaiatnight, the city offers splendid evening views. Ranking fourth for nocturnal safety (83.4), Dubai allows visitors to enjoy its beauty safely at night.

For evening excursions, tourists can visit the Dubai Glow Garden to view dazzling art installations, or admire the cityscape from the towering Burj Khalifa.

Tokyo claims the second spot with 17,167 Instagram mentions under #tokyoatnight. It’s also recognized for having minimal noise and light pollution (45.5), making it a prime location for night-time city explorations.

Muscat, Oman holds third place. Despite having fewer Instagram tags (132), it boasts the lowest overall noise and light pollution (29.9). Singapore, Hiroshima, and Kyoto also rank highly for their nocturnal allure.

Reykjavik is noted as Europe’s most picturesque city at night, having one of the lowest light and noise pollution levels (20.28) and a high safety index (72.1). Visiting during the darker months is ideal for those aiming to experience the Northern lights.

Dubrovnik and Zagreb, both in Croatia, are highly rated for safety and beauty at night, while Helsinki, Finland, secures a top position with minimal light pollution (23.04).
