Toronto and Newark mark the newest additions to Iberia’s growing transatlantic network, enhancing tourism and business connections between Spain, Canada, and the United States. As part of its ambitious Flight Plan 2030, Iberia will initiate daily flights to Newark starting March 29, 2026, and five-times-weekly services to Toronto beginning June 13, 2026. These expansions signify Iberia’s commitment to strengthening Europe–North America air links, offering passengers greater flexibility and seamless travel experiences while promoting regional tourism growth.
The new Newark service complements Iberia’s existing two daily flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport, collectively providing three distinct daily options for travelers heading to the New York metropolitan region. This increased frequency broadens access to Manhattan, sustaining Iberia’s appeal to both leisure tourists eager to experience New York’s iconic attractions and corporate travelers requiring convenient scheduling.

During the summer of 2026, Iberia anticipates offering over three hundred fifty thousand seats between Madrid and New York, reflecting a substantial forty-two percent increase over the previous year. The route will be operated via the modern and efficient Airbus A321XLR, optimizing fuel consumption and providing enhanced passenger comfort with new Airspace cabins.
Starting in June 2026, Iberia’s five weekly flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport will enable greater bilateral tourism and business connectivity. The service aims to attract Canadian travelers keen to explore Spain and continental Europe, as well as European visitors seeking access to Toronto’s multicultural vibrancy.

The flights, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, add a total of thirty-seven thousand seats during the summer, supporting peak travel demand. This route reinforces Iberia’s expanding presence in the Americas, complementing recent additions like Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza, and Monterrey.
Both the Toronto and Newark services will utilize the Airbus A321XLR, Iberia’s pioneering long-haul aircraft model launched with its inaugural Boston flight a year prior. The aircraft delivers approximately forty percent fuel savings compared to larger wide-body jets, positioning Iberia favorably amid rising sustainability demands in aviation.

The A321XLR features advanced cabin lighting, a two-class configuration including Business and Economy, and enhanced passenger amenities designed for long-haul comfort, further elevating Iberia’s competitive tourism offering.
These new flights form a key part of Iberia’s strategic Flight Plan 2030, a comprehensive euro six billion investment targeting fleet expansion from forty-eight to seevnty aircraft, digital service enhancements, and a refresh of the customer experience across networks. The plan prioritizes reinforcing connectivity between Europe and the Americas and accelerating Iberia’s leadership in transatlantic travel and aircraft leasing innovations (ACMI).
With these efforts, Iberia anticipates contributing significantly to increasing tourism volumes and economic partnerships between its hub in Spain and key North American destinations.
With the inclusion of Toronto and Newark, Iberia now serves ten destinations across the United States and Canada, delivering more than two million seats and approximately one hundred fifty weekly flights in 2025. Iberia’s North Atlantic joint business agreement with American Airlines, British Airways, and Finnair has fueled this network growth, further integrating transatlantic tourism offerings.
Passengers benefit from coordinated services, aligned loyalty programs, and expanded access, encouraging more travel flows and supporting diverse tourism product development.
The expanded air connectivity benefits sustainable tourism by facilitating diverse travel experiences, lengthening visitor stays, and dispersing economic benefits through hospitality, retail, and cultural sectors. The ease of reaching multiple North American cities from Spain also encourages multi-destination itineraries, enhancing value for travelers and deepening cultural exchange.
These developments play a strategic role in meeting growing consumer demand for flexible, efficient, and environmentally conscious travel options within the transatlantic corridor.
The addition of flights to Toronto and Newark enhances Iberia’s long-haul capacity, boosting tourism influence between Spain, Canada, and the US. Utilizing the fuel-efficient Airbus A321XLR and backed by a solid expansion strategy, Iberia is set to increase passenger convenience, reduce environmental impact, and stimulate vibrant tourism market growth.
As Iberia continues to innovate and extend its network, the airline significantly contributes to advancing transatlantic tourism and economic cooperation, offering travelers an enriched gateway to some of North America’s and Europe’s most compelling destinations.
