Tottenham Hotspur is nearing the commencement of construction on their new hotel following the approval of their plans for a 30-storey hotel adjacent to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by the Greater London Authority. The approval from Haringey Council had already been secured in December 2023, with expectations for the hotel to be operational in time for the 2028 European Championship, an event the stadium is set to host.

The hotel’s design includes 180 rooms, along with 49 residential apartments and 64 parking spaces, located on a site referred to as ‘Plot 3’ near the intersection of High Road and Park Lane, at the stadium’s southwest corner. Due to the limited space, the hotel is planned to have a unique, slender structure and will feature a podium accessible to the public for community events and exhibitions of local artists’ work.

Initially, Tottenham had sought permission for a 22-storey hotel, but later proposed an amended design in August 2023 to extend the building’s height by an additional 27 meters. F3, the architectural firm behind the design of both the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the training ground, has characterized the project as a “4* lifestyle concept hotel,” set to become London’s third-largest conferencing venue.

The revised design underwent review by Haringey Council’s planning officers during the autumn, with public consultations conducted in August and November. A petition from residents of Worcester Avenue, expressing concerns over potential traffic, noise, and reduced sunlight on Commonwealth Road, was submitted to Haringey Council.

The ‘Quality Review Panel’ of Haringey Council, after reviewing the new design on October 18, 2023, reported that the project had “improved significantly” from its previous iteration. The planning sub-committee of Haringey Council approved the amended plans on December 11, 2023. Tottenham Hotspur expressed their eagerness to collaborate with Haringey Council on a broader master plan for the area, which aims to provide additional housing, employment, and leisure facilities integral to the hotel’s development.

Following Haringey Council’s approval, the project awaited a legal agreement with the borough and the Mayor’s office. Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration, and Skills, conveyed his consent for Haringey Council to make the final decision, effectively overcoming one of the last obstacles before the initiation of construction work.
