Tourism businesses making profit from digitalization

There’s good news for all tour operators and booking related platforms: now trading with various currencies and payments related to cross-borders has become seamless, thanks to digitalization. Ted Clements, while speaking at ITB Berlin, the CEO of WeTravel, threw some ideas to small and medium-sized travel businesses and highlighted the way day-to-day operations can be handled effectively. In particular, reservations and payments can be made trouble-free with tools like WeTravel.


From the practical sphere, the best ideas come up. One of the founders of WeTravel was keen on organizing travel bookings and payments and making it more efficient. In 2016, he had set his company up as a bookings and payment platform, which frequently expanded its services for tourism industry. The CEO von WeTravel, Ted Clements, shared his insights from the “Annual Travel Trend Report” of his company related to travel behaviour post-pandemic and the associated challenges that small and medium-sized providers facing.


The study shows that by women, around 70 to 80 per cent of bookings are being made. It is therefore significant to mention them in campaigns. In addition, payment in instalments is getting popular day by day. 80 percent of the ones who were questioned make a down payment before the remainder is due. The payment methods should be reconciled on one’s own market; this is yet another piece of advice.
