The travel and tourism sector of China is all prepared to get better by more than 60 percent in 2021, before the global recovery rate, new research from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has recently disclosed.

The contribution of the sector to the GDP of the country this year could see a year-on-year increase of 60.7 percent.

The council forecasts that this is almost twice the global average, representing an annual growth of nearly 2.8 trillion yuan (US$440 billion). In the coming year, the growth momentum is expected to continue, WTTC said.

Domestic spending is expected to grow by 75 percent, especially, by the end of this year and in 2022 witness a further year-on-year rise of more than one-third.

However, as international spending is predicted to increase by just 7.2 percent in 2021, it could significantly outrun domestic spending with a rise of 94.3 percent in 2022 when the borders of China will be reopened to all important source markets worldwide, the study noted.

If the main measures are followed, the number of employed in tourism could overshadow pre-pandemic levels, reaching more than 80 million jobs, according to the study.

Allowing fully vaccinated travelers to move hassle-free and the execution of digital solutions which help all travelers to easily prove their COVID-19 and vaccination status – are some these measures among others.
