This is for his years of exceptional contribution to the local economy and to the Eden Tourism Network.
Ian Frost, Eden District Council Chief Executive, at the Council’s well-liked Eden Tourism Summit event presented Jim with the award.
Jim has more than four decades’ of experience working in £2.6 billion tourism and hospitality sector of Cumbria and is at present the Chair for the Eden Tourism Network along with the President of Cumbria Tourism.
Mary Robinson, the Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economy and Enterprise at Eden District Council, councillor , said that they are pleased to present the award to Jim who has remained as a long-standing ambassador of the visitor economy in Eden.
Mary also added that for over ten years, Jim has chaired the network and has been passionate about growing as well as supporting the businesses to generate an exceptional visitor destination, which has tremendous profits to their local residents and local communities at the same time.
Eden District Council introduced the new award as part of its Inspiring Eden effort, to identify brilliance and originality in the local economy.
So far, twelve awards have been designed and produced and will be made use to identify the organisations and individuals in Eden that show a tough commitment to attaining rural excellence within the local economy.
Councillor Robinson added that they are still inviting award nominations from all sectors of their varied economy.
