On Wednesday, the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) International Travel Awards, honored the Tourism Minister of Jamaica, Mr. Edmund Bartlett, with Lifetime Achievement Award For Promotion of Sustainable Travel & Tourism. At the PATWA World Tourism & Aviation Leaders’ Summit, Berlin, the award was presented.
Barnett said that he is honored and feels modest to get this Lifetime Achievement Award. He says that he is passionate about tourism, and he is uniformly serious about the sustainable development of the sector. He said that it’s the only way that tourism can be leveraged as a channel for financial growth and development along with transforming the communities and nations.
He also added that to gain long-term success, the sector must be financially viable, socially all-encompassing and environmentally responsive. This award is an evidence of his encouragement getting grip and has not fallen on deaf ears, said Barnett who is taking part in the ITB Berlin, the biggest travel show and convention of the world that draws thousands of professionals from the tourism industry.
This event will run until Thursday. The theme of this year’s event is “Open for Change”.
The PATWA International Travel Awards identify organisations and individuals who have outshined and are associated with the promotion of tourism from various travel genres like hotels, aviation, travel agencies, destinations, tour operators, tourism ministries, government committees and other service providers.
