Madhya Pradesh is one of the most active states in India when it comes to promoting tourism both domestically and internationally. However, the activities of tourism need to be synced with the environment in such a way that along with environmental protection, social, cultural, and economic development can be carried on at the local level. This was said by the principal secretary, tourism and culture, Sheo Shekhar Shukla while addressing a virtual webinar held on “Regenerative Tourism” during World Environment Day 2021.

Mr. Shukla said that the world has witnessed a lot of outbreaks in the last ten years, including deadly infections like SARS, MERS, Zika and Ebola. Hence, it’s imperative to pay attention to environmental protection and promotion for averting such diseases.

The webinar emphasized the importance of taking a holistic approach toward tourism and benefitting all the stakeholders making sure that the environment and local community remain protected.
