Tourism New Zealand Unveils A to Z Series Showcasing Kiwi Culture and Quirks

The social media series adopts the straightforward and familiar approach of an A to Z guide to offer insights into the distinctive culture and lifestyle of New Zealand, presenting it in a playful manner.

“From our accents to favourite slang words and our love of going barefoot, New Zealand’s kiwi-ness is what makes us special, but it can also take our international manuhiri (visitors) by surprise,” says Tourism New Zealand General Manager Marketing Kathryn Cunningham.

“The goal of this initiative is to provide a glimpse into the life of a Kiwi, fostering a deeper emotional bond between potential tourists and the people, places, and culture of Aotearoa, and encouraging them to consider New Zealand for their next vacation.

Research conducted by Tourism New Zealand indicates that while prospective visitors are drawn to our breathtaking natural landscapes and scenery, there is also a strong desire to immerse themselves in and experience a different way of living.

“We are also using this opportunity to fill in some of the knowledge gaps identified in our research, such as the friendliness of the locals and suggestions for activities and attractions.

“Whether manuhiri are keen to try our delicious bear (beer), indulge in a kiwi (not the bird) burger or seek a little ahhhh and ahh in our relaxing hot pools – it’s here to find in New Zealand,” concludes Kathryn.
