It was developed after 7 years, the court order of Amritsar Culture and Tourism Development Authority runs only on the Heritage street and at the Entrance plaza of the Golden Temple. The Cabinet in 2016 passed the Act for setting up the ACTDA for the maintenance of tourism sites located in all the holy cities.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s summer palace, a view on him, Pul Kanjri, yet another hotspot associated with the Maharaja, Sadda Pind, Gobindgarh Fort, the War Memorial, the Partition Museum, Hari Ke Patan marshland, Shahi Qila restaurant at Attari, Urban Haat, and others attractions were to be preserved by the authority. At present, these projects are being taken acre off by various government agencies.

Opened along the lines of Food Street in Lahore, Urban Haat, is being supervised by the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority which has given out the site on rent for an annual amount of Rs. 90 lakh.

Likewise, the Municipal Corporation Amritsar is the guardian of tourism projects like Challi Khoo. It’s a hydroelectric power generation plant of the British times, located along the UBDC. The cafeteria in the historic building is located outside the Rambagh gate. Because of the non-availability of professional manpower, the MCA has been keeping these sites locked so far.

MCA sources said that majority of the sites were getting destroyed because of dearth of consistent care.
