Group of foreign visitors were refused entry into the tourist spots across Japan as bad behavior was causing a harm to their business.

Non- Japanese visitors were declined entry into  a growing number of tourists sites , it also included  restaurants and temples.

The Nanzoin temple in Sasaguri Fukuoka prefecture was among the site and is famous for its reclining Buddha statue.

In 12 signs the temple hung signs for people that large groups of visitors were not welcome.

The Asahi Shimbun, temple’s chief priest blamed the growing number of cruise ship visitors for incidents like climbing on roofs and splashing around sacred waterfall.

Due to this regular worshippers stopped , the behavior has been prevalent since a decade.

The owner of a traditional izakaya bar in Kypto has started telling groups of overseas visitors that it is fully booked after noticing  groups of tourists bringing in outside food and using plates as ashtrays.

Japan National Tourist Office (JNTO) spokesperson said that whilst Japan’s promotion as a tourist destination is incredibly important, JNTO is aware of cases of ‘overtourism’ in which local residents of some tourist hotspots have been affected by a surge in the number of visitors from overseas.

The frustration of both travellers and residents is understandable and Japan will work towards creating an environment for sustainable tourism.

Japan had introduced an exit tax for tourists and from January the visitors had to pay a 1,000 ten tax to leave the country. The money raised will be used in improving the tourist infrastructure.
