Jon Mamela becomes a part of Travel Alberta and takes the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, leading tourism and destination development. It would be effective from March 14, 2022.
In the tourism and hospitality industry, Jon Mamela mixes public and private experiences. He comes to Travel Alberta from Destination Toronto, where, as Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), he was associated with government and industry groups to showcase the city. Mamela was CMO & Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales at Destination Canada before that and was driving record growth and championing the development of the “For Glowing Hearts” destination brand.
Mamela is acquainted with Alberta pretty well. He worked as the Vice President, Marketing and Sales of Travel Alberta from 2010-2011, and directed the inception and development of the brand. Also, he has occupied leadership positions with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
