TUI Group is gearing up to bolster its successful hotel venture in Sub-Saharan Africa. While its TUI Hotels & Resorts segment has thrived in North Africa with 76 hotels under its belt, the focus now shifts to expanding further into the southern part of the continent. The expansion plans include adding eight new hotels in destinations like Cape Verde, The Gambia, Senegal, Tanzania, and Kenya. Additionally, the group is launching a new upscale brand, “The Mora Zanzibar,” which promises a blend of contemporary luxury, relaxed ambiance, and personalized, adaptable service. The grand opening of “The Mora Zanzibar” is scheduled for this summer.

“With our variety of hotel brands, we will create new hotel experiences in Africa for different target groups – from price-conscious holidays in a TUI Suneo hotel via our global brand TUI Blue to a new luxury experience with The Mora”, says Artur Gerber, Managing Director TUI Blue, ahead of the East Africa Property Investment Forum. “We are looking forward to contributing to the development of the African hospitality industry and working together with local communities.”

Aside from introducing the new brand The Mora, TUI Blue has also announced plans for another project in East Africa. Over the next few years, they will be constructing a new 117-room hotel in Kilifi County along the Indian Ocean, named TUI BLUE Watamu. This marks TUI Blue’s inaugural hotel in Kenya and is a collaborative effort with Sands of Darakasi Resorts Limited. Wesam Okasha, Head of Global Development at TUI Blue, emphasizes the significance of this project in showcasing their expertise and partnership approach in developing leisure hotels across Africa. Furthermore, in partnership with Valor Hospitality Partners, they are actively seeking franchise opportunities to expand their presence in key East African destinations like Mauritius, Tanzania, and Kenya.

Currently, TUI Hotels & Resorts boasts a portfolio of over 90 hotels with more than 30,000 rooms spread across seven African countries.
