Turkey Witness Their Public Beaches Having High Attendance in this Year with New Additions, Expansions, Free Access and Eco-Friendly Infrastructure

Published on December 29, 2025

The number of visitors that frequented Turkey’s public beaches has seen a major boost in the year 2025, and this indicates that Turkey is progressing in creating accessible and qualitatively good public areas for its citizens. According to Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a total of 3,252,769 visitors benefited from the government’s free public beaches in 2024, and this figure is set to increase in 2025 due to increased popularity attributed to government-initiated improvements in beach infrastructure and environmental sustainability standards.

Expansion and New Additions to Turkey’s Public Beach Network

The Turkish government has continued its efforts to provide citizens with free and accessible beach options, opening new public beaches and expanding existing ones. Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, highlighted that the government’s initiatives in culture, art, and tourism were complemented by the enhanced quality of public spaces.

Notable additions in 2025 included the opening of the Mugla Bodrum Yalikavak Free-Entry Public Beach, which attracted significant attention for its convenient location and high-quality amenities. Another major development was the launch of the Antalya Manavgat Sorgun Free-Entry Public Beach, providing local residents and tourists alike with another great spot to enjoy Turkey’s scenic coastline at no cost.

Additionally, existing public beaches received significant upgrades. The Antalya Beldibi (Bahcecik) Public Beach saw capacity enhancements and facility expansions, which included landscaping improvements and better infrastructure for visitor comfort. These upgrades not only improved accessibility but also boosted the overall visitor experience.

Environmental Sustainability and Accessibility at Public Beaches

A key focus for the Turkish government is environmental sustainability, which is evident in the infrastructure of the public beaches. The 19 public beaches currently in operation across Turkey are designed with environmentally conscious materials and features. The government is committed to preserving natural beauty while ensuring these beaches remain accessible and user-friendly for citizens.

In addition to offering free access, these beaches are equipped with necessary facilities and amenities, such as changing rooms, restrooms, and shaded areas, making them ideal spots for both relaxation and recreation. The government has also emphasized the importance of sustainable practices, ensuring that the beaches are not only accessible but also maintained with a focus on reducing the environmental impact.

Government’s Commitment to Public Beach Development

Minister Ersoy’s statement underlined that public beaches play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for Turkish citizens by offering free recreational spaces where they can engage with the sea. The government’s dedication to improving these spaces reflects Turkey’s broader efforts to foster a more inclusive and environmentally responsible tourism model.

The 2025 beach developments are just one part of the government’s larger strategy to promote tourism and culture across the country. These free-entry beaches offer an ideal way for locals to enjoy the natural beauty of Turkey’s coastlines without the burden of high entry fees or overcrowded private resorts.

A Bright Future for Turkey’s Public Beaches

The continued development and success at Turkey’s public beaches reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring that its natural resources are accessible to the public while also incorporating environmentally sustainable practices. The new additions to the beaches, such as Bodrum Yalikavak and Antalya Sorgun, as well as the continued development at beaches such as Beldibi, are the efforts by the Turkish government to market beaches as one of the main attractions not just for the citizens, but also for international visitors. The increase in visitor numbers in the year 2025 indicates the increasing popularity of the free and quality beaches, and with environmentally sustainable practices, Turkey’s public beaches are expected to continue to be an integral part of the country’s culture in the years to come.
