The Republic of Turkiye’s Ministry of Culture & Tourism, along with the Turkiye Tourism & Promotion Agency, highlighted the nation’s dynamic tourism attractions at the Outbound Travel Mart 2024 (OTM), the leading travel event in Asia. Their involvement attracted a considerable number of visitors, with the Turkiye booth witnessing over 1000 attendees. This three-day event provided an effective venue for B2B engagements, enabling fruitful discussions between Indian travel agents and principal participants in Turkiye’s tourism industry.

Commenting on the participation, Mr. Onur Gözet, Deputy Director General of Promotion in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said, ‘Our participation at OTM holds significant importance for Turkiye on multiple fronts. It serves as a pivotal platform allowing us to showcase the diverse and culturally rich experiences, historical treasures, and natural beauty our country offers. During our time at OTM, our core objectives revolved around fortifying existing partnerships, cultivating new collaborations, and elevating awareness about Turkiye as a premier tourist destination. We took the opportunity to spotlight new attractions, developments, and unique experiences curated to resonate with Indian travelers. Our focus was also on deciphering the evolving trends and preferences in the Indian travel market to fine-tune our strategies accordingly.’

In 2023, Turkiye experienced a significant influx of international tourists, with the numbers reaching an impressive 56 million, a 10% increase from the year before. India, in particular, has become a key contributor to Turkiye’s tourism industry, with Indian tourist numbers swelling by 18% from 230,000 in 2022 to 274,000 in 2023. This growth highlights Turkiye’s escalating appeal to Indian travelers. Turkiye is optimistic about further increasing the number of Indian tourists by the end of 2024, reflecting its commitment to enhancing cultural exchanges and mutual tourism development. The Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2024 served as an ideal venue for this initiative, standing out as the most significant and internationally varied assembly of travel trade buyers and professionals in India. The event, which ran from February 8-10 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, brought together over 1600 exhibitors from more than 60 countries, various international destinations, and 30 Indian states and Union Territories. Exhibitors had the chance to connect with a broad spectrum of industry players, including travel agents, tour operators, wedding planners, and professionals from the film, TV, and OTT industries.
