The tourism operators, local people and businesses are being questioned to give an advice on the way they would like to see the tourism in the future and the visitor economy expanding in the Tweed.
Identifying the significance of tourism and its impact on the local economy f the region, The Tweed Tourism Company and Tweed Shire Council have started a complete appraisal of the Destination Management Plan of the region.
In 2019, the inaugural DMP of the region was adopted with major impacts on the sector recently; an update is in progress to make sure the region maintains a pertinent planned approach to tie together the constructive impacts of tourism for the local economy.
Chris Cherry, Mayor of Tweed Shire, said that for the government and industry, the DMP was a vital plan to guide the Tweed to leverage sustainably and generate the visitor economy while getting popular as a
destination that highlights the strengths of the region.
The Tweed is a place that is well-known for its culture, nature and creativity, with a different natural loveliness and exciting landscapes that takes care of the produce and agri-tourism, hold stories of a rich Aboriginal culture and motivates innumerable artists and artisans of the region, Cr Cherry said.
