Atlantic Aviation Expands Nashville Travel Growth With New Facility at John C. Tune Airport

The first service center from Atlantic Aviation has begun construction at John C. Tune Airport (JWN) to service the booming Birmingham market. This location will provide increased service offerings and satisfy the growing demand for increased capabilities for the evolving business aviation market in Middle Tennessee.
The project was launched after Atlantic Aviation was selected through a competitive request-for-proposals process organised by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. The move reflects the company’s growing presence in key aviation markets and its commitment to expanding fixed-base operator (FBO) services.
Located around eight miles west of downtown Nashville, John C. Tune Airport serves as an important general aviation gateway for the region. The airport operates alongside Nashville International Airport (BNA), providing complementary aviation services for private aircraft, corporate travel and other non-commercial aviation activities.
Both John C. Tune Airport and Nashville International Airport are owned and managed by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. The addition of Atlantic Aviation’s new facility is expected to further improve aviation support services and contribute to the continued growth of Nashville’s business aviation sector.
The upcoming development will feature a 7,500-square-foot executive fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal along with a 37,000-square-foot hangar and office facility. The infrastructure will be built to support a wide range of business aviation aircraft, providing enhanced services and operational capacity for private and corporate aviation users.
The project will further expand airport capabilities with around 175,000 square feet of additional aircraft ramp space. It will include advanced fuel facilities, featuring a 60,000-gallon Jet-A fuel storage system and space for 12,000 gallons of 100LL aviation fuel. A specialised de-icing area will also be constructed to support aircraft operations during colder weather conditions. The entire facility is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Sustainability will remain a key focus throughout the construction process, with the development incorporating environmentally responsible design features. Planned measures include LEED-oriented building practices, energy-efficient systems and initiatives to minimise waste generated during construction. These efforts aim to create a modern aviation facility that balances operational growth with sustainable development.
Margulies Hoelzli Architecture, an aviation-focused consulting and design firm based in New York, has been appointed as the project architect for the development. The firm has previously collaborated with Atlantic Aviation on several aviation infrastructure projects across the United States. Benesch will provide civil engineering services, overseeing key elements including site preparation, utility planning and pavement design.
Atlanta-based PRO Building Systems has been chosen as the project’s general contractor. The company brings previous experience from working on Atlantic Aviation developments, including projects at Nashville International Airport.
The fuel farm component of the facility will be designed and built by American Environmental Aviation, Inc., a specialist company with experience delivering fuel infrastructure solutions for multiple Atlantic Aviation locations throughout the country.
The John C. Tune Airport project represents a continued investment by Atlantic Aviation in the Nashville aviation market and builds on the company’s recently completed FBO facility at Nashville International Airport. Together, the two locations are expected to improve business aviation capacity, provide expanded service choices and strengthen private aviation access throughout the Nashville region.
Atlantic Aviation and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority are expected to celebrate the completion of the new facility when operations begin in late 2027.
