UAE maintain its spot as top global tourist destination

The UAE is constantly maintaining its position as a regional and international leader and an illustrious travel destination and as the most preferred country in terms of living and working.

On the world tourism map, UAE has fortified its position, turning into a top international tourism location. In several competitiveness indexes in terms of travel and hotel sectors, 2021, UAE occupies as top 10 countries in the list. In the first quarter of 2022, Emirati hotels pulled almost six million visitors. They had spent around 25 million hotel nights.

This was a rise of 10 per cent compared with the same time 2019. Furthermore, their hotel stay increased by 25 per cent in the same time, as the rate of hotel occupancy was 80 per cent. It’s one of the highest internationally.

In the first quarter of 2022, hotels attained earnings that reached a total of Dh11 billion. This was an increase of 20 per cent compared to the same time 2019. At full capacity, these hotels started their activities again, totaling almost 200,000 hotel rooms.

In the first quarter of 2022, the number of passengers in terms of flights and hospitality, who came to the airports of the country, had surpassed 20 million compared to 8.6 million in the same time last year. It was an increase of 135 per cent.

To the GDP of the country, the contribution of the travel and tourism sector, in the last three years was 3.4 per cent.
