Sudden decision on UK flights ban triggered panic all over as it left flyers stranded from Maharashtra and other states. India prompted a quick ban on flights plying from United Kingdom scheduled on monday, left several others worried as returning home is now uncertain owing to the new virus mutation strain. The ministry of civil aviation mentioned that all flights to and from UK would be suspended from December 22 to December 31.

Last week, a new mutated strain of Covid-19 was discovered in UK. At a press conference on Sunday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made it official that London and other areas will follow strict lockdown and flights were even halted in various countries. On Monday, the Union ministry of civil aviation temporarily closed down flights between India and UK. International flights had recently resumed on certain routes under the Indian government’s air bubble scheme.

Norman Schofield, a Pune resident whose 25-year-old son is in Birmingham mentioned that he is upset with this sudden decision of cancelling flights as his son has travelled abroad for the first time, is stranded since November and is exploring universities for higher studies.  On the other hand Delhi-based film producer Sudhanshu Pandey is in London at the moment, and he opined that he was also these since November and has decided to fly to Delhi on December 28, but owing to this prompt decision of banning flights he is tensed and is willing to fly back to India on Wednesday itself.
