Starting January 8, 2025, nationals from several Caribbean countries, including St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, The Bahamas, and Trinidad and Tobago, will need to secure an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before entering the United Kingdom. This new requirement marks a significant change for Caribbean travelers, who have previously not needed visas or ETAs to visit the UK.
Although the ETA is not a visa, it is mandatory and must be completed prior to travel. The introduction of the ETA is part of the UK’s initiative to strengthen border security and manage international entry more effectively. Caribbean nationals traveling for business, leisure, or transit purposes will need to complete this process for entry into the UK.

Governments of affected Caribbean nations, including St. Kitts and Nevis, have not yet issued formal comments on how the new travel requirement will impact tourism or trade relations. Statements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UK High Commissioner are expected soon.
