The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee in the UK has urged regional tourism leaders to discuss how the UK tourism sector is working with Government to make sure that the entire UK is recognized as a tourist destination. MPs are expected to survey how different tourism bodies work together and to what extent they are competing, rather than collaborating.
Oxford Economics research has said that inbound tourism will not recover until 2025; hence, the Committee is expected to explore why funding for marketing UK tourism lags behind comparable countries.
The role of music and theater in attracting tourism is also being considered in the third session of the Promoting Britain Abroad inquiry. The Committee would study how far music and theater feature in the Government’s tourism strategy.
