At the Polish-Ukrainian border, the images showing Ukrainian refugees arriving on foot have been defined as a sea of humanity by the border guards. In such a short time span, no European country so far has received so many refugees.
The running away Ukranians arrived at the Polish border, close to Rzeszów. On foot, these refugees were spotted arriving along with their children, pets and even elderly members of their family.
Besides people attempting to cross over from Ukraine into Poland, relatives of people fighting in Ukraine were hanging around nervously to see if their family members have made it or not.
To enter Poland, on Sunday, almost 1 millionth refugee stepped across Ukrainian soil. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, shared details along with images in Twitter, highlighting solidarity shown by the citizens of Poland across the country.
To quote his tweet, he said, “At the Polish/Ukrainian border I was impressed by the outpouring of solidarity by communities through Poland in support of refugees: many volunteers in action, and piles of donations everywhere, all effectively organized by border guards and local authorities.”
