United Airlines Holdings, Inc. (UAL) has revealed that Rosalind (Roz) Brewer is the latest addition to its Board of Directors. Brewer stands out as a distinguished executive, having earned accolades from both Fortune and Forbes as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Business.”
“Roz’s strategic acumen and visionary leadership make her the right addition to our already strong Board of Directors as we plan for the long-term success of United Airlines,” said United CEO Scott Kirby. “Her vast leadership experience characterized by innovation and digital transformation have made a lasting impact on some of the world’s leading companies and will be an asset to United.”

Recently, Brewer held the position of President and CEO at Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc., recognized worldwide as a forefront company in the retail pharmacy and healthcare sector. In this role, she was instrumental in steering the company’s strategic vision and adeptly handling the healthcare challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis. Her tenure at Walgreens was marked by groundbreaking initiatives that spurred innovation, boosted customer interaction, and broadened the reach of vital healthcare services.
In her previous capacity as the Chief Operating Officer for Starbucks Corporation, Brewer was integral in enhancing operational efficiency and elevating the consumer experience. Before her time at Starbucks, she led Sam’s Club as President and CEO, a key business unit of Walmart Inc.
Brewer is a Spelman College alumna, having obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Her role as chair emerita at her alma mater reflects her strong commitment to education’s transformative influence and her dedication to nurturing the next wave of leadership talent.
