With Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification expected soon, United is set to begin testing the technology, paving the way for an official passenger launch. The airline has fast-tracked its Starlink rollout, now targeting 40+ aircraft installations per month starting in May. By year-end, United aims to have fully equipped its two-cabin regional fleet with Starlink’s game-changing connectivity.

Fast Installation, Lightning-Speed Connectivity

Unlike conventional inflight WiFi systems, Starlink’s installation process is significantly faster. United has revealed that each installation takes just eight hours, roughly ten times quicker than traditional systems. Aircraft downtime is also minimized, with each plane spending only four days out of service, compared to the industry average of over ten days for other providers.

Once fully operational, Starlink will offer passengers blazing-fast internet speeds of up to 250 Mbps, an astonishing 50 times faster than the current WiFi on regional aircraft. MileagePlus members will enjoy free access, ensuring a seamless and high-quality inflight experience.

The Future of Inflight WiFi is Here

SpaceX’s Starlink has rapidly emerged as the preferred choice for airlines upgrading their inflight connectivity. Industry leaders such as Qatar Airways, airBaltic, SAS, Air France, and WestJet have already committed to integrating Starlink technology into their fleets, reinforcing its growing dominance in aviation.
