The National Museum of Singapore is celebrating a very special anniversary for the country with a very special trip down memory lane, with two special experiences. These experiences mark 60 years of Singaporean history and its transformation from a small, undeveloped settlement to a prominent city. The museum has opened 700 years of Singapore’s history for everyone to discover the changes Singapore has undergone with a special immersive experience.

Immersive Experience at the Shaw Foundation Glass Rotunda

Our trip down memory lane begins with the Shaw Foundation Glass Rotunda, the first of the museum’s galleries to be revitalized. Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time is this exhibit’s name and is a multimedia immersive experience where visitors learn and experience important historical moments in Singapore’s history.

Upon entering the exhibit, guests are greeted by an astonishing floating LED globe, which presents an overview of Singapore’s maritime history. This exhibit is the centerpiece of a two-minute light display, where the globe illustrates the many maritime connections provided to the island by the world throughout history. Each history show will have a new light show, so everyone is encouraged to come back multiple times!

While listening to an audio story of the history, guests will view animated wall projections, and eventually descend the ramp next to the animated digital waterfall, which corresponds to the history audio story. The history portion of the exhibit ends with the presentation of Singapore’s modern day and its purpose, and plays an audio recording of the country’s history.
