With winter approaching in the UAE it’s time for residence and guests prepare themselves for a new weather pattern. The hub for the UAE’s weather data, the National Center of Meteorology NCM, Lead has issues alerts for a mixture of weather events combined with an expected temperature drop. From Sunday through the 27th of November all 7 Emirates of the UAE will be expecting a change in the predicted temperatures and daily warm weather.
One of the most significant changes this week is the dip in temperatures. As humidity rises and the skies remain overcast, temperatures will hover lower than usual. This cooling effect will be felt across the entire UAE, with morning temperatures in inland areas potentially reaching the lower teens, while coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi may see highs struggle to stay above 25°C during the day.

In addition to the cooler temperatures, humidity levels will climb, creating a thick, muggy atmosphere. The combination of damp, cooler air and reduced sunlight may make it feel colder than the thermometer indicates, especially for those used to the UAE’s usual warmth.
The western regions of the UAE, along with offshore islands, are set to experience the highest chances of rainfall. With thickening clouds expected, the rain will likely begin to fall in these areas as early as Sunday evening, continuing sporadically throughout the week. This rainfall may range from light showers to more consistent drizzles, adding to the gloom and discomfort.
Travelers heading to these areas should be prepared for possible wet conditions. Roads may become slippery, so those traveling in the morning or late evening should take extra care. Visitors heading to the islands should check local conditions regularly as boat schedules might be impacted by the heavy cloud cover.
Fog is another factor to consider. Some inland areas, particularly those far from the coast, will see thick fog forming during the early morning hours. The NCM warns that fog may reduce visibility significantly, making it hazardous for commuters. It is advisable to keep a close eye on the weather before heading out early in the day.
Those planning long-distance travel within the UAE should take precautions when driving through foggy conditions. Reducing speed and using fog lights, if available, will help ensure a safe journey. In addition, air travelers should be aware that foggy weather could lead to delays or flight changes at major airports like Dubai International.
Tourists visiting the UAE this week may face some challenges due to the unpredictable weather. The typical outdoor experiences that attract many visitors to the region, such as desert safaris and beach outings, may be affected by rain and fog. Tourists should keep in mind that although the weather will not be extreme, the cooler and more humid conditions may not be ideal for some outdoor activities.
Those who had planned to explore the desert dunes or go on a beach day may want to consider indoor activities or cultural sites that remain enjoyable regardless of the weather. Museums, malls, and other indoor attractions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will still offer plenty to do.
The five-day forecast suggests that the cooler temperatures and humidity will continue through the end of November. The possibility of light rain and fog will remain high, with the western regions and islands continuing to see the most significant weather changes. While conditions are unlikely to escalate into anything dangerous, the UAE’s usual sunny skies will be temporarily replaced by clouds and dampness.
If you are planning to travel across the UAE during this period, it’s essential to stay updated on the latest weather reports. Ensure your vehicle is prepared for wet conditions, and allow extra time for your journeys, particularly in the early morning or late evening when fog is most likely to occur.
For those traveling by air, it’s a good idea to check flight statuses in advance, as fog may cause delays or cancellations. Similarly, ferry and boat travel to the offshore islands may face disruptions due to choppy conditions.
Travelers should pack accordingly, bringing layers to stay warm during the cooler days, especially if they plan to spend extended periods outdoors. Consider packing an umbrella or raincoat for unexpected showers.
In the UAE it will also be a week of shifting weather conditions. We will be experiencing a week of rain, fog, and cool temperatures. We do not expect major disruptions but remain cautious, as you do when planning any outdoor activities, as these conditions mostly affect us while driving and when on the road. We appreciate the NCM Continued Quality Forecasting. Updates will be provided as necessary. With these conditions, the fluctuation in the weather, you can certainly enjoy all the activities the UAE has to offer.
