UP tourism to get a boost with Khelo India University Games

The Khelo India University Games, which are set to begin later this month, would be utilised to promote UP Tourism.

The Games will be held in four locations in Uttar Pradesh, with athletes visiting key tourist spots like as Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur and Mahatma Buddha’s Mahaparinirvan site in Kushinagar.

According to a government official, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the Games should represent the changing face of the state, its legacy, art and culture, and important tourism destinations.

He stated that the Games should not just hold activities but also showcase the state.

Navneet Sehgal, additional chief secretary for sports, announced that Gorakhpur will host the rowing event from May 27 to 31.

This will include 30 events in which 471 athletes from 24 universities will compete. During their stay, these sportsmen would be brought to Gorakhnath temple and Kushinagar. The tourism department will coordinate the tour.

Meanwhile, a 21-kilometer half-marathon will be held in Lucknow on Sunday to raise awareness about the Khelo India University Games.
