As British Columbians and tourists from different parts of United States prepare for travel over the Labour Day long weekend in United States, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is reminding domestic travellers to be prepared for their journey through the airport.

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) continues to recommend that passengers arrive early—up to two hours ahead of scheduled domestic flights and three hours ahead for U.S. and international flights.

The passengers are encouraged to check latest airport information on Vancouver International Airport (YVR) website and on the airport’s Twitter feed and latest flight information with their airline before travelling to the airport.

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) continues to work closely with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) and its many partners to deliver a safe and seamless experience for passengers. YVR thanks staff across the airport community for their continued support with getting passengers through YVR safely and as efficiently as possible. For the week of August 29 – September 05, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is expected to welcome an average of 66,000 passengers per day for a total of 461,713 for the week, connecting these travellers to 95 destinations across Canada and the world.

The airport is expecting Monday, August 29 and Sunday, September 04 to be the busiest travel days with 66,858 and 67,221 passengers, respectively. To put this in perspective, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) welcomed an average of 32,458 passengers daily this time last year (2021) and 73,404 pre-pandemic (2019). Across any given day, early-to-mid morning will be the heaviest for passenger flow with volume easing late morning and into the afternoon before peaking again in the evening.
