Uzbekistan and Vietnam Strengthen Tourism Collaboration with New Agreements, Boosting the Sector and Fostering Sustainable Growth for its Future Travel

Published on December 26, 2025

Uzbekistan and Vietnam have made a major step forward in improving their economic cooperation, and particularly in the area of tourism, after top-level talks conducted in Hanoi. The visit was led by Ilzat Kasimov, Uzbekistan’s deputy minister of investments and industry and trade. The two nations are focusing their efforts on improving cooperation in such areas as tourism, critical minerals, and municipal development. Importantly, there is an increasing recognition of tourism’s potential role in their economic development; therefore, they look for new means of cooperating in such areas as sustainable tourism and development of tourist infrastructure with the purpose of attracting more visitors.

Tourism Investment and Strategic Partnerships

During the talks, the Uzbek delegation discussed opportunities for collaboration with prominent Vietnamese business groups, including Masan Group and Sovico Group, to explore avenues for tourism investment in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan has seen a rise in tourist arrivals in recent years, and its unique blend of heritage tourism, cultural landmarks, and Silk Road sites makes it an increasingly popular destination for international visitors. Moreover, Vietnam’s growing expertise in tourism infrastructure and its successful development of popular travel hubs makes it an ideal partner for Uzbekistan as it seeks to expand its tourism offerings and improve visitor services.

Fostering Sustainable Tourism Growth Through Collaboration

A significant part of the discussions focused on sustainable tourism growth. Uzbekistan and Vietnam acknowledged the importance of balancing the rise in tourism numbers with the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. Efforts are underway to develop eco-tourism projects that can offer both countries’ visitors a deeper connection to the land while protecting their unique landscapes. This collaboration is expected to lead to innovative tourism solutions and the creation of sustainable travel packages that appeal to eco-conscious tourists.

Expanding Tourism Infrastructure: A Path to Increased Visitor Numbers

One of the most exciting aspects of the talks was the focus on tourism infrastructure development. Vietnam’s expertise in managing large-scale tourism projects, from hotel chains to transportation networks, is seen as a valuable resource for Uzbekistan. The two countries are exploring the possibility of joint investments in luxury resorts, airport facilities, and transport systems, with the goal of accommodating an increasing number of tourists from Asia and beyond.

Additionally, with Vietnam’s successful tourism models in city tours, heritage routes, and beach destinations, Uzbekistan is keen to adopt similar strategies to promote its rich Silk Road history, ancient architecture, and natural beauty. This collaboration promises to lead to better integrated tourism services, making travel between the two nations more seamless for tourists.

Strengthening Tourism Ties with Vingroup: Joint Projects in Tourism and Urban Development

As part of the broader economic talks, the Uzbek delegation met with Vingroup, a major Vietnamese conglomerate, to discuss future tourism-focused investment projects. The partnership will see joint efforts to develop tourist infrastructure, including the creation of high-end hotels, resorts, and tourism services. Vingroup, with its experience in residential development and tourism services, is expected to bring valuable insights to Uzbekistan as the country looks to expand its tourism sector and cater to both luxury travelers and adventure seekers.

In addition to tourism, Vingroup’s expertise in urban development will also help enhance tourism hubs in Uzbekistan’s major cities, ensuring that tourism development aligns with the country’s broader urbanization goals. This comprehensive approach to both urban development and tourism will ensure that Uzbekistan’s growing tourism industry is both sustainable and economically beneficial.

Tourism Legislation: Strengthening the Future of Bilateral Cooperation

Both countries have also focused on strengthening tourism legislation to support the growth of the sector. Uzbekistan has tabled the Commercial Use of Marine Areas Bill, which is under public consultation, to better manage and regulate tourism in its coastal areas. Additionally, consultations on a harmonized Civil Aviation Bill and a comprehensive Tourism Bill for Uzbekistan are underway. These new bills are aimed at improving tourism services, enhancing safety, and creating a more cohesive framework for tourism growth and foreign investment in the sector.

By aligning tourism policies and frameworks, both countries aim to foster more efficient tourism management, ensuring that growth in visitor numbers does not come at the cost of cultural heritage preservation or environmental sustainability.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Uzbekistan-Vietnam Tourism Cooperation

The growing tourism collaboration between Uzbekistan and Vietnam is setting the stage for a bright future in the sector. With both countries committed to expanding their tourism offerings, improving infrastructure, and increasing foreign investment, the tourism industry in both nations is expected to flourish. As Uzbekistan continues to showcase its rich history and culture, it will benefit from the expertise of Vietnamese businesses that have successfully developed thriving tourism markets.

A Shared Vision for Tourism Growth

Economy-related negotiations between Uzbekistan and Vietnam demonstrate a strong desire to increase tourism development and cooperation. By working towards establishing sustainable tourism infrastructure, innovative tourism experiences, and new tourism partnerships, these countries actually demonstrate a great level of hard work aimed at enhancing bilateral relations but also promoting overall global tourism success. Joint activities undertaken by Uzbekistan and Vietnam will help these countries become global tourism leaders and offer tourists different quality tourism experiences for years to come
