Vancouver International Airport awarded North America’s best Airport once again

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) was awarded the title of Best Airport in North America at the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards held in Frankfurt, Germany. The awards are globally acknowledged as a leading benchmark for airport quality, determined by over 13 million passengers worldwide through the largest annual airport customer satisfaction survey.

YVR last achieved this accolade in 2021, and has since navigated the challenges posed by the global pandemic, focusing on strategic priorities that enhance service for travelers, the community, and the local economy.

“Regaining our top spot as Best Airport in North America is a result of the dedication and hard work of our employees and everyone working here at YVR to serve travellers and our community,” said Tamara Vrooman, President & CEO at Vancouver International Airport. “From the team greeting people at our front doors, to those who move cargo and bags, to security staff who keep us moving safely, to those to maintain and clean our facilities – 26,000 people work at our airport each and every day with pride and purpose. This recognition belongs to them, and I want to acknowledge and thank them for all their work this past year.”

In 2023, YVR catered to nearly 25 million passengers and enacted several operational enhancements. This includes bolstering partnerships with government bodies and airlines to enhance resilience and streamline travel processes. Notable initiatives implemented to improve accessibility and service include the introduction of a Curbside Greeting program and the integration of sign language across departure gate information boards.

The Skytrax survey, covering over 550 airports worldwide, is renowned for its independence and comprehensive evaluation of the passenger experience, from check-in to departure, without any airport influence or interference.

YVR holds the unique distinction of being named Best Airport in North America 14 times.
