Vernon Tourism is conducting a poll of industry stakeholders to gauge their level of optimism, goals, and marketing efforts.
An online survey distributed to stakeholders inquired about the previous year’s achievements, staffing requirements, and satisfaction with Tourism Vernon’s services.
The anonymous survey asks if revenue changed in 2022 vs 2021, as well as which markets are most significant, from local to national and beyond.
It also inquires as to which season generates the most revenue for responders and their outlook for the future year.
The five-year strategy plan for Tourism Vernon includes four major aims that provide a roadmap for the expansion of Vernon’s tourist business. They are:
• Increased year-round visitation
• Increased visitor satisfaction
• Increased stakeholder engagement
• Increased community support for tourism
• Building the Vernon destination brand
It is looking for methods to enhance the satisfaction of visitors and feedback on the local 3% hotel room tax, which finances Tourism Vernon’s initiatives.
The study also asks potential stakeholders how much development they expect in fields ranging from agri-tourism to arts and culture, sports, craft brewing, spirits, and cannabis cultivation.
“In your opinion, aside from a global pandemic, what are the top barriers to the growth of the tourism industry within Vernon?” one of the questions asks.
The survey will remain open until March 17.
