In the post-pandemic international arrivals revival process, Vietnam fades away near the bottom of a global ranking after completely reopening its international doors to visitors from abroad mid-March 2022.

In 2022, the number of visitors from foreign countries to Vietnam is forecasted to witness a decline of 77% against 2019, as per a report published by ForwardKeys, the eminent travel data & analytics company.

For the year, Hong Kong posts the slowest recovery in the world at an estimated 95% decline. Then comes Japan at (89%), followed by Russia with (88%) and South Korea (80%). Malaysia and New Zealand are anticipated to see a decline of 76%, as Thailand, one of Southeast Asia’s first countries to reopen its tourism, is probably to see a 75% decrease over 2019.

ForwardKeys assessed the level of tourism revival of 100 world destinations based on its real air tickets information, the most complete source of tickets booked internationally.

All tickets issued until October 18, of this year and the ones for future travel were taken in to demonstrate the results of travel for the full year. The arrivals of tourists are counted on the basis of at least the stay of one day at return tickets staying at least one night in the destination.

Dominican Republic, as per the report, leads the world in international tourism recovery, experiencing a 5% rise in visitor arrivals against 2019.
